Introduction

JGE Global is a mid-sized energy logistics and infrastructure company with a significant footprint in the midstream sector. Headquartered near Longview Texas, it operates at the critical crossroads of America’s energy infrastructure.

Positioned in the heart of the U.S. Gulf Coast; one of the world’s most vital hubs for oil and gas logistics, JGE plays a key role in the midstream sector, specialising in the transportation, storage and distribution of hydrocarbons.

Founded over two decades ago, JGE Global started as a regional player focused on crude oil logistics. However, over the years, the company expanded its footprint across Texas, Louisiana, and the Permian Basin, becoming a strategic partner for refineries, producers and petrochemical companies.

But as the energy sector evolved, JGE found itself constrained by legacy tools; decade-old systems built around spreadsheets, siloed databases and manual coordination. JGE’s leadership realised that to maintain their competitive edge and meet the demands of modern energy logistics they needed more than just a tech upgrade. They needed a digital transformation partner.

In September 2023, JGE Global initiated a strategic partnership with Trilogy Energy Solutions to modernise its aging plant accounting and settlement processes. The company's core operations center on processing volumes from key suppliers.. Most of the inbound product comes from the liquids stream, while the processed residue gas is sold.

Before engaging TIES (The Integrated Energy System), JGE’s workflows were heavily dependent on spreadsheets and the Quorum software platform for plant accounting. The spreadsheet-driven processes were not only labor-intensive and prone to human error, but also introduced delays and inefficiencies in areas like invoicing and regulatory reporting.

Quorum, while widely used in the industry, proved costly and lacked the flexibility and granular control JGE required for its evolving operational needs.

The Challenge: Manual Workflows and Rigid Legacy Systems

Prior to adopting TIES, JGE Global struggled with a range of operational inefficiencies driven by manual processes and outdated software tools. Key challenges included:

  • Plant allocations and producer statements were manually prepared in spreadsheets, leading to errors, version control issues and significant delays.

  • Invoicing workflows were slow and labor-intensive, requiring manual coordination with nearly 60 counterparties, including 7 to 8 active trucking customers.

  • Fuel usage calculations for key partners were complex and entirely manual, increasing the risk of miscalculations.

  • Cash requirement reporting for Basa Resources was also spreadsheet-based, creating complications when managing financial visibility across multiple producers.

  • Contract storage and access were fragmented, with no centralised repository, making it difficult for teams to retrieve and manage agreements quickly.

These limitations required an urgent need for a modern, flexible platform that could reduce spreadsheet dependency, automate settlement processes and give JGE’s internal teams greater control and visibility over their operations.

The Solution: TIES Brings Automation, Integration, and Flexibility

JGE Global turned to Trilogy’s TIES platform to modernise their operations, reduce manual work and integrate key processes across contract, volume, and settlement management.

TIES replaced the legacy Quorum system, offering a suite of intuitive modules specifically tailored to meet JGE's operational needs:

Automated Plant Allocations and Settlements

  • TIES fully automated the creation of plant allocations and producer statements, eliminating spreadsheets and applying consistent, rule-based logic for accuracy and efficiency.

  • The integration of both Dry and Wet Gas systems enabled TIES to account for the physical bypass at the Longview plant effectively.

  • TIES provided customised settlement functionality to handle complex contract types, including POP (Percentage of Proceeds) and Fixed Recovery agreements, with a recovery logic to ensure accuracy in revenue distribution.

Contract and Counterparty Management

  • The platform centralised all contract storage and access, ensuring that JGE’s team could easily retrieve and manage contracts from a single source.

  • With support for numerous counterparties, TIES streamlined revenue management, enabling faster and more accurate invoice generation.

Optimised Fuel and Cash Reporting

  • TIES automated fuel usage calculations, simplifying the management of compressor system data.

  • Additionally, the system automated the generation of Cash Requirements Reports, dramatically reducing time spent on manual entry and minimising the potential for errors.

Designed for Expansion and Autonomy

  • While trucking and rail infrastructure integrations are not yet in place, TIES was configured to accommodate these future expansions seamlessly.

  • JGE’s team received thorough training on the platform, empowering them to manage operations independently without reliance on external consultants.
